Anina Stanton

Technical. Maker. Artist. Dreamer. Mother.

Mechanical Engineer living in Silicon Valley working on construction supporting semiconductor fabrication, focused on: Process Engineering and on-site support. Pursuing Certified Plumbing Designer accreditation.

Seeking: plant nerds, waste nerds, building nerds, machine nerds

Cultivating: relationships and connection with good people and good food

My focus through college and into my 20's : manufacturing, prototyping and design

I worked as a bicycle mechanic, machinist, painter, fine-finish metal worker and fabricator.

I have hands that get dirty and use tools.

exploring the world [how it works and how to be in it]

I studied sustainability and self-sufficient living.

I pursued a wild and free lifestyle with my bicycle.

I interned on farms and learned about natural building.

I delved into the socio-political-economics of modern consumerism.

My ethos is inspired by the wisdom of plants and natural cycles.

I utilize archetypal concepts and Eastern spirituality for guidance on what to do and how to be.

Discovering Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) put me onto this career path..

I connected to Urban Ag community in NYC, joined AgTechX in 2017 and learned about indoor growing / hydroponics.

I studied the chemistry of life: biomolecules, plant nutrients, soil composition, decomposition, microbial action, biogeochemical cycles.

I found employment with a startup opening a pilot facility to process food waste using anaerobic digestion.

There I learned about waste water treatment and explored organic nutrient solution.

I left to pursue the skills to control environment: HVAC design, Process Engineering and Controls.

I started working (2019) in construction at an HVAC controls company and work now with a MEP Engineering firm.

I am acquiring the skills and collecting collaborators to actualize my dreams.

My life-calling is to design/build mechanical systems for Living Buildings;

Systems that close the loop on resource cycles {nutrients, air, water, heat, power}.
